چکیده

Turning is one of the most fundamental target motions. Its modeling has been well studied for unconstrained targets, e.g., air targets. However, existing turning models can not be directly used for constrained target motion on circular tracks, which has wide application, e.g., in ground target tracking. This paper models the constrained target motion on a circular track. First, it explicitly sets up the constraints imposed by the circular track. Then it obtaines two forms of the target motion models along the circular track. The first form is obtained based on direct elimination with the classical constant turn model as the desired model class. The second form is obtained based on alongtrack motion projection, which is advantageous in two aspects: clear physical meaning and computational considerations (weaker nonlinear and less potential numerical problem). Extension to target motion modeling along elliptic track is also discussed.

Constrained target motion modeling - Part I: Straight line track

Straight line motion is one of the most fundamental target motions. Its modeling has been well studied for unconstrained targets, e.g., air targets. In this paper, modeling of the constrained target motion on a ...

Comparison of Different Targets Used in Augmented Reality Applications in Ubiquitous GIS

Drilling requires accurate information about locations of underground infrastructures or it can cause serious damages. Augmented Reality (AR) as a technology in Ubiquitous GIS (UBIGIS) can be used to visualize underground infrastructures on smartphones. Since smartphone’s sensors do not provide such accuracy, another approaches should be applied. Vision based computer vision systems are well kn...

On Polygonal Paths with Bounded Discrete-Curvature: The Inflection-Free Case

A shortest path joining two specified endpoint configurations that is constrained to have mean curvature at most ς on every non-zero length sub-path is called a ς-geodesic. A seminal result in non-holonomic motion planning is that (in the absence of obstacles) a 1-geodesic consists of either (i) a (unit-radius) circular arc followed by a straight segment followed by another circular arc, or (ii...

Robot Motion Vision Part II: Implementation

The idea of Fixation introduced a direct method for general recovery of shape and motion from images without using either feature correspondence or optical flow [1,2]. There are some parameters which have important effects on the performance of fixation method. However, the theory of fixation does not say anything about the autonomous and correct choice of those parameters. This paper presents ...

Lyapunov and minimum-time path planning for drones

In this paper, we study the problem of controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to provide a target supervision and/or to provide convoy protection to ground vehicles. We first present a control strategy based upon a Lyapunov-LaSalle stabilization method to provide supervision of a stationary target. The UAV is expected to join a pre-designed admissible circular trajectory around the target...
